Lifting a priceless grand piano
We are often called upon to carry out weird and wonderful lifting operations, from priceless artwork to a 30ft fiberglass whale (but that’s another story).
Recently we were asked to lift a grand piano into a third story window of a museum, more specifically The Ragged School Museum of London which has recently undergone an extensive £4.3m restoration. The history of what was once a school opened by Thomas Barnardo in 1877 has been upheld by a local group of people who created The Ragged School Museum Trust.
Back to present day some 144 years later and one of our latest technologically advanced Palfinger 34002SH lorry mounted cranes is positioned outside the historic building lifting a priceless piano into its third story window, skillfully controlled by one of our operators using a wireless remote control he is able to position himself inside the building in order to have the perfect view as he uplifts the piano between narrow window frames and into place.
